2017 Blog Preview

Forward into the partially known!

Six years! That’s how long I’ve been writing this blog. For you long-term readers, thanks for taking the journey with me. For new readers who maybe got pulled in by my hair odyssey and decided to stick around to debate immigration and Brexit, welcome!

Some posts require a lot of work, but writing a blog is energizing and rewarding. Expressing my thoughts in a publicly-accessible medium forces me to clarify my thinking and do my research. Either back up my ideas or consider changing them (and I love it when my beliefs evolve and become more coherent).

Occasionally a post has a positive impact on someone’s life, and they tell me. That’s an awesome feeling. I do enjoy helping people, despite my struggle with boundaries last year. It hasn’t been an issue since made my Contact page super-prickly. Derek Sivers, until very recently, answered emails from his blog readers as a full-time (unpaid) job. He enjoyed it, and made the choice consciously, but he didn’t have time for much else.

I do like responding to comments (even anonymous ones) because then other readers can benefit from the exchange. And thanks everyone for keeping it civil, even when we disagreed.

2017 Pipeline

So much to write about! Here are some of the posts I’m developing or considering. I may not get to all of them, but this should give you a general idea of what’s in store for this year:

  • Bone Healing Protocol
  • 2016 Q4 No-Car Update
  • Fiction Writing Update
  • Five Things That Made My Life 10% Better
  • In Defense of Consensual Violence
  • My Experience with Google AdSense
  • On the Strong Parenting Opinions of Non-Parents
  • How To Resist Evil in 2017

I hope you stick around and share your own thoughts in the comments.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for your continued contributions. Your blog has slowly but surely worked its way toward my most likely to read since I noticed it!
