Apigenin as a Potential Anti-Aging and Anti-Disease Molecule

I’m currently experimenting with the increasing my apigenin intake from both food sources (parsley, chamomile) and supplements. I’m not sure what the ideal dosage is (probably somewhere between 300mg and a gram), but the potential benefits are intriguing.

My Current Evidence-Based Anti-Aging Program

The Fountain of Youth by Lucas Cranach the Elder

My interest in anti-aging goes back as long as my interest in health and nutrition, but in the past year or so I’ve done a deep dive into the topic. I’ve just turned fifty, and I’d very much like to live at least another half-century. I have long lists of things I’d like to both accomplish and experience, and I’ll need time to do that. I became a father on the later side, so I’d like to be around for my daughter’s adulthood. And for the most part, on most days, I greatly enjoy being alive. Why end the party early?

Short Promotional Post, Upcoming Posts, and a New Experiment

Nobody listened.

Just a few things to mention today:

  • My new progressive breaks album MOVE with Mark Musselman keeps slowly creeping up the charts. I don’t know if the album has legs or if it’s climbing the charts because my mom, some friends, and a few of you kind blog readers bought it, but it’s currently #11 on Beatport Breaks releases. If it breaks the Top 10 I promise I’ll shut up about permanently, at least on this blog, but if you’re an electronic music fan and you’re feeling the Momu vibe, I’d greatly appreciate if you could buy the album on Beatport. I think eventually Elon Musk will file a cease a desist, so grab it while you can (or maybe he’ll tweet-blast it because we’re amplifying his warnings about rogue AIs taking over the world).

  • A nice surprise on Twitter today — I learned that my story The Fo’dekai Artifact (originally published by Cosmic Roots and Eldritch Shores in 2017) was recently podcasted. You can listen to the full story on Youtube for free (which is great, as this story was previously behind a paywall). If you enjoy the story please follow Cosmic Roots and Eldritch Shores on Youtube and maybe subscribe to the zine.
  • After a few hiccups I was finally able to claim my author page on Goodreads. If you use Goodreads, please follow me over there (I currently have all of five followers). I turned “Ask the Author” to ON, so if you have any burning questions about my novel The Sky Woman or any of my short stories (including The Fo’dekai Artifact), please ask them on Goodreads and I’d be happy to answer.

OK — that’s everything I have to promote. Thank you for any links you may have clicked on!

Strawberries, Fisetin, Health, and Longevity

A few months ago I was talking to my friend Dan Pardi (founder of Human OS) at the 111 Minna 20th anniversary party. Despite the loud techno music, Dan and I got into a conversation about health, nutrition, and supplements (as we usually do). Dan told me about some interesting research on the compound fisetin (found in many foods, but especially high in strawberries). Just a few high doses of fistetin, fed to mice, improved health and significantly extended lifespan, even when given to older (middle-aged) animals.

New Blog Series: 8 Aspects of Reversing Aging, and What Can Be Done Now

My new in-progress novel, The Savior Virus, takes a deep dive into speculative anti-aging technologies. I’m interested in reversing my biological age in real life too, a topic I introduced in this post. I’ve been taking Niagen to increase my NAD+ levels, using saunas whenever possible induce heat-shock proteins, and shifting my exercise program toward HIIT and endurance training to increase the length of my telomeres.
