Album Giveaway – From There To Here Volume 1

Free album download on looq.com

Free album download on looq.com

We’re giving away a free ambient/downtempo compilation on looq.com. The only catch is that we’re asking for your email address, but if you want to download the music and then immediately unsubscribe, no hard feelings. If you stay on the Loöq Records mailing list, you’ll receive a short email about once a month linking to our newest release (mostly progressive house, deep house, breakbeat, downtempo, and ambient), and links to free music downloads several times a year.

From There To Here Volume 1 (initially released in 2011) was our first attempt at an ambient/downtempo compilation. We’re following up with Volume 2 in about a month. Volume 1 features music from Methodrone, Kleidosty, Reef Project, Jondi & Spesh, and Momu.

Feel free to comment on what you think about the music, or about other groups/projects in similar genres.

Loöq Records End-of-Year Compilation, and Contest

Top 12 of 2012 (on 12-12-12)

Top 12 of 2012 (on 12-12-12)

A quick post to let you know about what I’ve been up to over at Loöq Records. Every year we listen to every single track we’ve released and come up with a “best-of-the-best” compilation. It’s available exclusively on Beatport at the moment, and if you buy it (or even just buy one track) you’re eligible to enter the Loöq Records contest.

If you have no interest in electronic music, then read no further. But if that 808 kick gives you that special feeling, I promise you’ll find something you like on this collection. Some of my own work is on it (Jondi & Spesh, Momu, Yellowcake) but my favorite tracks this year are from RND().

Contest rules and prize details are right here. I’ll say this much — everyone is a winner!

Loöq Records Behind-the-Scenes Update #1

Click here if you want to go straight to the free music.

Spesh and I have been running Loöq Records for 12 years (since our distortion-heavy techno-house debut album Tube Drivers in 1998).  What started out as a hobby has become an important part of my identity, not to mention an occasional source of significant income.  If you’re interested in more background, I’ve written a bit about the history of the label here (Angles of Estrangement post), and the business side of things here (Business Advice for Young Artists post).  I’ve also written about why I dropped out of DJ’ing to focus on producing music, running Loöq Records, and other creative pursuits (like writing) here.  Today I’m just going to mention what’s going on currently, and give a preview of what we’ve got planned for the rest of this quarter and the first part of 2011.
